Why EPCON Is Moving to a Bigger Office in South Africa

Growth in a company often shows up in numbers: more projects, more partners, more countries. But sometimes, growth shows up in a much more tangible way — like realizing your team has simply outgrown the office.

Over the past years, our team of data scientists, engineers, and public health experts has steadily expanded as our work supporting Ministries of Health and global partners has grown. With more projects and new ideas constantly emerging around the Epi-control platform, it became clear that we needed a little more space to keep building the future of precision public health.
So we’re moving into a larger office.
But before the desks, computers, and dashboards move in, we decided to start with something a bit different: a team sanding session.
Instead of simply ordering new furniture, the team rolled up their sleeves and began sanding old but beautiful desks together — turning the preparation of the office into a shared activity. It’s a small thing, but it says a lot about the culture we’ve built. At EPCON, building things together is part of who we are, whether it’s AI models, health insights, or… office desks.
There’s something special about creating a workspace with your own hands. It turns a building into a place where people feel at home, where ideas flow easily, and where collaboration happens naturally.
The new office will give our growing team more room to think, build, and innovate. But just as importantly, it’s a reminder of how far we’ve come — and how much more we want to achieve together.
From sanding desks to strengthening health systems across countries, the journey continues.
